We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Content Writer – Math to join our rapidly growing Aplia team. As a content writer, you will create content for our online Math homework solution and play a key role in the development of this new product. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, an understanding of the challenges that college students face, creative ideas on how to reach, engage and retain students, and demonstrably outstanding writing skills. This is a full-time, on-site position located in our Belmont, CA office. We will also consider candidates for our Boston, MA office. Relocation assisstance is available for well qualified candidate.

Specific Responsibilities:

- Create, review, and edit online teaching materials for college level Math courses

- Work with internal stakeholders to determine and execute the vision and requirements of our online math products based on extensive experience, research, and customer interviews

- Work with our team of content developers, project editors, and reviewers to accomplish goals of Cengage’s math discipline

- Continuously consult with customers and internal stakeholders to vet the product in terms of approach, effectiveness, student audience, level, and product requirements

- Consult with engineers to help develop innovative Math tools to best serve our students and professors

- Be familiar with our current content to advise the sales and support teams on any content-related questions

- Fully support the content once it’s live, including assisting students and teachers by answering content-specific questions and responding to and fixing any bugs within 24 hours

Basic Qualifications Required:

- Master’s degree in Math or Teaching Math

- 5+ years, current or recent, experience teaching undergraduate courses in Math - ranging from Developmental through Calculus

- Knowledge of various instructional methods and pedagogical approaches to teaching math, including adaptive learning

- A vision for what an online product could accomplish in math

- Proven ability to work collaboratively

- Top-notch written and oral communication skills

- Successful ability to review and effectively critique work for quality, consistency, and efficacy

- Demonstrated aptitude and willingness to develop successful customer relationships at the highest level

- Computer savvy with the ability to quickly pick up technical skills

- Bright, hard-working, flexible, dedicated, and team-focused self starter

- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment


Preferred Qualifications:

- Formal editorial / writing experience

- Familiarity with the online learning platforms

- Extensive relationships with Math industry peers
