The University of Montana - Missoula Department of Residence Life has a great opportunity for an Assistant Director of Residence Life for Staff Selection and Training.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Assistant Director of Residence Life is an administrative professional, non classified staff position. Together with the Assistant Director for Student Conduct, the Assistant Director for Staff Selection and Training manages all day-to-day activities related to student staff supervision, living learning programs in the residence halls, works to develop cohesive, safe, and positive communities under the guidelines established in The University of Montana Student Conduct Codes; oversees operational and administrative functions of daily residence hall management; and serves as liaison to the Curry Health Center, specifically CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services), SARC (Student Assault Resource Center), and SOS (Self Over Substance) programs, the Office For Student Success, UC Student Involvement, and other University departments whose functions affect residence hall students.
The position also directly supervises the Residence Hall Supervisory Staff within each building who oversee the paraprofessionals (resident assistants); serves as a liaison for students within the residence halls, and is an advocate for the student experience.
In addition, the position will manage and supervise the education and social activities program endeavors in the Residence Halls; develop, manage and coordinate living/learning with a goal of student retention; work to establish a Diversity Program within the Residence Hall enviroment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
· The ability to develop long and short-term goals for residence hall development.
· The ability to multi-task and self start with limited supervision.
· Knowledge and experience recruitment, hiring, training, orientation, and mentoring of resident assistant and supervisory staff.
· Experience as a resource/on-call assistant for residence hall staff.
· The ability to formulate and enforce policies to promote the interests of residence life.
· The ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders of residence life at Montana.
· Experiences working with Living/Learning environments.
· Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures with the ability to lead a team and participate in a management team setting.
· Experience with or knowledge of promoting diversity within residence halls and campus environment.
· The ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment
REQUIREMENTS:
Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Public Administration, or related field.
Four years progressive, professional experience in residence life/residence halls environment including live-in hall director/area coordinator/head resident supervisory experience.
SALARY:
This position is full time and is eligible for a full benefits package. The salary is commensurate with skills and qualifications and is competitive with peer institutions.
