Primary Functions
Position processes the financial records for the College of Forestry and Conservation (CFC) and the Montana Forest and Conservation Experiment Station (MFCES). Duties include but are not limited to: data entry, payroll processing, grant monitoring, invoice and form processing, creating detailed financial reports, and reconciling State, Designated, Auxiliary, and grant accounts; providing financial guidance and support to the College of Forestry, MFCES, and other University departments.
Position will demonstrate: knowledge of governmental accounting principles/practices, and University, Federal, State, and private funding agency policies and procedures; knowledge and proficiency with Banner Finance, spreadsheets, and databases; knowledge of faculty and staff payroll processes, and collective bargaining agreements.
Minimum Job Qualifications
High School graduation and three (3) years of progressive accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in accounting principles and practices
Knowledge of or ability to learn The University of Montana, Federal, State, and private funding agency policies and procedures
Ability to analyze and interpret accounting information
Ability to prepare financial reports
Ability to monitor grant activity and reconcile grant accounts
Demonstrated skill in the use of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software (MS Excel, Word, Access), with the ability to learn new software
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey accounting information in a clear and understandable manner to various individuals
Ability to make sound decisions; handle multiple and complex tasks with the highest degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to remain calm and professional at all times; organize and prioritize work assignments with the ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment with frequent interruptions
Ability to process related paperwork and perform keyboard entry with the ability to recognize and correct errors
Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State, and The University of Montana accounting and fiscal management guidelines and regulations
