The Lebanese American University invites applicants for a tenure-track (or visiting) position in Ancient History (Greece and Rome) at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels effective Fall 2011. The successful candidate should have a strong teaching background and be able to teach undergraduate courses (and potentially graduate seminars) covering the histories of ancient Greece and Rome. Such historical coverage should include political, institutional, economic, imperial, legal, intellectual, and philosophical sub-concentrations within the historical themes to be treated. A solid acquaintance with the rich mythologies of both ancient Greece and Rome is highly desirable. Applicants must have a good research record in the related fields of ancient Greek and Roman histories. He/she must have the ability to work closely with students and faculty.
Candidates applying must have a Ph.D. in History from an accredited college or university. Applicants must provide evidence of continuous scholarly productivity, publication of high-quality research, teaching effectiveness, and a continuous record of professional and university service.
