GENERAL DUTIES
Performs teaching duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below. Distinguished Lecturers are experienced practitioners or teachers in their professions or fields of expertise. Distinguished Lecturer positions are full-time but non-tenure track positions with a maximum appointment period of seven years, subject to annual reappointment.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Hunter College Department of Film and Media Studies is inviting applications for a Distinguished Lecturer in the sociological dynamic of media and its impact upon the public. The candidate should have a specialization in media coverage of crime and violence with a special emphasis on the impact of the media upon catastrophic events on communities, media institutions and the fabric of social life. Additional areas of specialization include crises communications, critical incident analysis, and journalism and trauma. In addition, candidates should have a distinguished record in media relations, political and government affairs, marketing development and public affairs, and academic service including curriculum development and outreach to the public and private sectors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and a record of achievement in a profession or field of expertise related to anticipated teaching assignments. Also required is the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. and significant teaching experience on the undergraduate and graduate levels highly desirable.

COMPENSATION
Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range for that title.
